ABOUT THE ICEBERG CLASSIC

The Iceberg Classic began in 2015 as a joint venture between two families who love the game of 3 on 3 hockey. It has become Alberta’s largest 3 on 3 hockey tournament with approximately 650 kids participating in the following divisions: U7, U9 (Tier 1), U9 (Tier2), U11 (Tier 1), U11 (Tier 2), U13 (Tier 1), U13 (Tier 2) and U11 Girls. There are divisions for all skill levels of players.
The Iceberg Classic is a “pond hockey” style of tournament, meaning that there are no offsides, no icings and all penalties result in a penalty shot. There are tournament gifts for all players, jerseys to keep, awards for 1st and 2nd place in all divisions and of course the Iceberg Cup for champions in each division, which will be displayed at the rink year after year.
The main focus of the weekend is to create a fun, social and family atmosphere for players and their parents and families, and to have a good finish to what can sometimes be a long hockey season.
We thank you for your interest in what promises to be another fun filled and exciting weekend of good old fashioned pond hockey! If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us.
In January 2023, one of our tournament organizers, Jeff Gold, lost his short battle with pancreatic cancer. Jeff was full of life and laughter and if you ever had the opportunity to see him around the rink on tournament weekend, it was clear that this was one of his happy places. Planning the tournament without Jeff has been difficult and every year we will miss his presence but will do our very best to honor him by working hard to keep the fun in this tournament.
We miss you Goldie and the many years of fun that we were fortunate to have together!!!
